This is a scene from the movie "never back down" which came out last year or the one before. So it maybe a lil biased towards mma style stuff. But still I see what you mean, I will say instead of flipping around the capoeira guy shoulda just focused on the task at hand lol.

Just for capoeira's sake i had to post this. An actual full contact MMA fight with a capoeira fighter fighting a "Muay Thai" guy. Eryn put me on to this video so if you havent seen it. Watch. Lol.

Yeah, I saw that video. It reminds me of a country song, "We all get lucky sometimes." Why was the KO victim not blocking that? Why didn't he sidestep and pound him in the stomach, crotch, or whatever? It seems he was taken by surprise by a fighting style he wasn't used to and put his face in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I also had to throw in for capoeira's sake. You should check out this guy that Justin has been learning from in town. He's scary. Their version of the style requires an incredible amount of strength and flexiblity and training is brutal. They are very comfortable moving from and into weird and seemingly awkard postions to effect a defensive move or strike. High Level guys (like the instructor) are able to "trick" people into moving a certain way right into one of their techniques.

Oh, I'm not saying it cannot be used effectively by someone. I'm just saying that that someone is NOT me. I barely survive jiazuquan.
